The Power of the Tongue

Proverbs 26:20,21

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

Wise and ancient words...

James 3:5-6

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Before the cross and after the cross, who can ignore the power of the tongue to create havoc?

James 3:7-8

For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

It’s no wonder, God chose TONGUES as the evidence of total surrender to His authority over our lives…

He’s the only one that can tame our tongues!
