Peace Continued

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace...

I stated in my previous blog that Jesus left us His peace. The one who told the winds and waves, "Peace be still," has given us peace to calm all our storms. Peace doesn't have to be acquired through an additional act of grace; He has already imparted it to us.

Then why do we experience times of unease in our hearts? I believe the answer is found in the book of Isaiah, chapter 26, verse 3, which states;

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

It's not a matter of acquiring peace, but rather, a matter of keeping our minds stayed on Him. Our minds can be volatile or easily swayed from one state to another. It is not that we do not have His peace, but that our mind chooses to dwell on the circumstances that challenge us, thereby creating a sense of unease and worry.

Therefore, it is up to us to choose to think on God and His word, to keep our minds engaged upon Jesus and His promises. For this carries with it a great promise:

"Great peace have they which love thy word, and nothing shall offend them." Psalms 119:65

So in conclusion, keep your mind on God's word, and His peace will keep you no matter what you are facing!
