Solomon took the scalpel of royal authority and did surgery on Israel by cutting out of the body the disease of rebellion, Adonijah(Lust of the EYES), Joab(Lust of the FLESH), Abiathar(Pride of Life),  Shimei(Jealousy).

All of which to remain, would have cast confusion upon the peace that God wanted to bring to the kingdom, or, the body of Israel.
