I stated in my previous blog that Jesus left us His peace. The one who told the winds and waves, "Peace be still," has given us peace to calm all our storms. Peace doesn't have to be acquired through an additional act of grace; He has already imparted it to us.

            Then why do we experience

           times of

           unease in our hearts? I believe the answer is found in the book of Isaiah, chapter 26, verse 3, which states;

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

It's not a matter of acquiring peace, but rather, a matter of keeping our minds stayed on Him. Our minds can be volatile or easily swayed from one state to another. It is not that we do not have His peace, but that our mind chooses to dwell on the circumstances that challenge us, thereby creating a sense of unease and worry.

Therefore, it is up to us to choose to think on God and His word, to keep our minds engaged upon Jesus and His promises. For this carries with it a great promise:

"Great peace have they which love thy word, and nothing shall offend them." Psalms 119:65

So in conclusion, keep your mind on God's word, and His peace will keep you no matter what you are facing!

In the gospel of John, Chapter 14, verse 1, Jesus instructs His disciples to "

Peace I leave with you, My peace, I give to you.

            "

This was not just a feeling that affects our emotions; it was an ever-abiding presence with us always.

The Lord was preparing to depart, but He wanted them to know there was no need for concern, for He was leaving them with His peace. His peace can withstand the storms of life and the challenges we all face from day to day. Therefore, peace isn't something we pray for or hope to find, but it is the realization that He left us with His abiding peace that we would never be without comfort.

The Apostle Paul lets us know in the book of Philippians Chapter 4:6-10 that if we will only restrict our thoughts to good things, lively things, things that have virtue, and are of a good report, that the peace of God will keep our minds and that the peace of God will be with us. It is not something we have to obtain; it is something we already have, because He left it with us.

Isn't it a comfort to know that we are never alone and with His peace!

Consider the Bounties of God's Riches

In ancient days, the priesthood was required to go through a process of sanctification before performing the duties of the temple. This process was an arduous task that required careful detail to God's commandment concerning the care of holy articles within the temple. Consider the bounty of God's riches that were bestowed upon the priesthood for this careful attention to detail:

1 Kings 8:10-11 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, 11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.

Wow, that must have been the most electrifying experience ever!

My hands are shaking as I type these words with consideration of our position in God's Kingdom today:

           1 Peter 2:9

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Hallelujah, I am overcome with anticipation for our service this Sunday, knowing that we are working diligently to do the will of God within the realm of our separate capabilities. Wouldn't it be awesome to come together and not be able to minister because of the overflowing presence of the Almighty?!

           See you in Church

On Texting

For there is no greater treasure than a true friend...

There was a time when correspondence meant something special. A handwritten letter expressed thought, took time, and spoke of a friendship between you and the person you were corresponding with. It was a matter of pride and respect to draft a letter in which you expressed your thoughts in elevated terms that lent significance to what you were saying, and respect and affection to whomever you were writing.

How special it was to go to the mailbox and find a letter written to you from a friend; to exchange ideas and catch up on lost time. It seems we are all too busy these days for such sentiments, but I fear that something valuable has been lost in the process. Friendship is worth the investment of time and effort, for there is no greater treasure than a true friend.

We often say, "God knows my heart, He knows that I am busy and that I don't always have time to attend church, pray, or read my Bible." Let's not relegate God to a "texting" relationship; a brief word now and then, just to let Him know that we are thinking about Him. Instead, let's honor Him with our most valuable treasure: time! He is a friend worth having and keeping.

God won't impose on you to show Him affection and respect by demanding your time, but remember, He is your creator and savior. No one is more deserving of your time than He.

           Consider how great a matter...

            Proverbs 26:20,21

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

           Wise and ancient words...

            James 3:5-6

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Before the cross and after the cross, who can ignore the power of the tongue to create havoc?

            James 3:7-8

For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

            It’s no wonder, God chose

            TONGUES

as the evidence of total surrender to His authority over our lives…

He’s the only one that can tame our tongues!

           Psalm 91:11-13

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

           Matthew 4:5-7

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

The very first prophecy of the Bible, Genesis 3:15, foretells the destruction of satan's authority by the messiah, Jesus Christ. Satan waited approximately 4,000 years for this moment to challenge the authority of the woman's seed, thinking to use God's own word to decieve God himself. Satan exhibits, in this act, the very thing that caused him to lose his place by the throne of God...

           NO LOVE OF THE WORD

Satan could care less about the WORD, his only agenda was his own authority. He could not comprehend who Jesus was because he had no love for God's word. Sure he knew God's word but for him it was a weapon of deceit, a way to challenge one's faith in God almighty.

Jesus, the WORD incarnate, simply destroys Satan's deceitful assault with the same WORD:

           Deuteronomy 6:16-17

Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

So when some devil attacks you and tries to rob you of your faith by mis-quoting the scriptures, simply pull out a verse from your arsenal of TRUTH and send him running in Jesus name!

            Psalm 90:12-14

12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

13 Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

One's ability to reflect on the inner self is a remarkable defense mechanism. The ability to assess the value of action and its soul-felt byproduct causes a unique intention of life, an awesome awareness of the almighty and his delight upon our outcome.

It is wise to pause in life and take inventory of our actions, as this will provide our soul with an accountability of self-worth!

            Psalms 68:8

The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

Take note of this fact; even Heaven and Earth testify of God’s infinite glory, having been with him from the beginning!

Do you know if their obeisance attracts his presence or does his presence evoke their worship?

In either direction, we should take a lesson from their example through an infinite witness!

Give God the witness that is due him, and you will evoke His presence in any situation, SELAH!

Light at the end of the Tunnel

            Psalms 64:10

The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

This Psalm is the proverbial ‘Light at the end of the Tunnel’

The entirety talks of the enemy with a biting tongue, words of destruction and darkness, yet the psalmist rests his case in gladness. So bright is this gladness that the righteous rejoice with him in the face of opposition!

           Job's Friends?

Job 7:20 I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?

Job 7:21 And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

Nobody other than God himself knew Job like Job knew Job!

So, you can imagine how perplexed Job was, to find himself in a position that his friends would look down on him as though he should be in prison for some heinous crime.

Check it out; Job was a man of heavenly stature, he offered up sacrifice every morning to sanctify his children just in case they might have sinned.

Don’t you know that this attitude toward his family is what boosted God’s confidence to be able to say to the adversary of humanity, ”Have you considered my servant Job?”

Job doesn’t know through all this trouble, that he is a trophy in God’s throne room!

Be careful how you react to your circumstances, it might just be possible that God Almighty is shining a light from heaven upon your reaction.

            Leviticus 19:2-3

Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

This author is blessed with a beautiful wife and family, my days are long and my health is youthful!

I attribute this amazing blessing to a careful obedience to this verse:

            Exodus 20:12

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

            The New Year,

           Change is on the horizon!

            Genesis 1:14

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

When you think about it, the new year is a Genesis event; old things pass away and hope is made new.

A new approach to healthier ways, a new approach to better family relations, a new commitment to the ways of godliness.

           1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

A new commitment to the family of God!

            Genesis 13:3,4

           And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;

Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.

Make no mistake about this important fact:

God has a purpose for your life!

When the cares of this life seem to carry you away from that purpose, that calling, that vision!

Then you must shake, slap, awaken yourself to that place of beginning…

That place where you first met Jesus, and understood his calling upon your life.

Our Longsuffering God

God is not willing that any should perish...

            Genesis 19:11

And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

Here in lies a snapshot of the ‘Soul of Humanity’ outside the protective umbrella of God’s mercy.

No longer was judgment eminent, but while they were amid judgment, they wearied themselves to work against God rather than repent.

While we observe the darkness of this world, it is never lost on God, the faint cry within the heart of humanity…

Who is God, where is God, how can I find him?

The world may stumble in darkness trying to find the door of their own will but God is ever reaching and beckoning us toward his will:

            2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Don’t let the darkness of this world cause you to stumble, repent and look to Jesus. He will be the light to find your way!

           Jacob's tribute to God

           Genesis 33:19,20

And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.

And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael (God, the God of Israel)

Heaven explodes with a thunderous noise; the court of the almighty rejoices in such a manner that even the deepest parts of the universe are moved with its vibration…

Yet, the earth remains silent, just another day, the creeks babble, the birds chirp, the breeze moves gently through the tops of the mulberry trees, an extraordinarily uncomplicated day…

But wait, what is this, Jacob erects a statement etched in stone, a statement of rare significance that causes heaven to rejoice!

           Simply put

Thank you God, for keeping your hand on me and protecting my family! I give you honor, you are my God…

           EleloheIsrael

So unnoticed by the family of humanity, but so understood by the family of Israel that this quiet statement is indelibly etched within all who hear it…

           God, the God of Israel

Revelation's Journey

Jacob's life-long journey on the pathway of revelation.

           Genesis 37:10

And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

Having already enthusiastically told his brothers about the dream of the sheaves, Joseph now stands before them and his father, proclaiming with increased wonderment a second dream with hidden meaning…

The brothers already stated their hatred for this boy who seemed a foreigner in their family, and now even his father becomes alienated by the mysterious message from the dream world; “Are you telling me that I must bow down and worship you as well?!”

These were possibly the last words Jacob spoke to his son before he disappeared from his life!

As time passed and life occasionally delivered chaos to his family, it was possible that Jacob would retreat to his secret place, where he kept his lifelong keepsakes. He would pull out the bloodied coat of many colors and lament the loss of Joseph, possibly chiding himself for not supporting Joseph and his dream. Oh, what anguish that must have been, year after year…

The seven-year famine forced Jacob and his entire family to move to Egypt, where Jacob respectfully bowed himself to the earth, paying respect to the second greatest leader of the earth, his own son Joseph!

It took a lifetime, but Jacob finally perceived the revelation of God’s plan for his life and the preservation of Israel through his son Joseph.
