Selah Trumpet
Psalms 57:3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
This psalm is written in the form of a song to the chief musician and is set to the tune of “Al-taschith” which means “do not destroy”(Apostolic Study Bible; pg 906, sub text 57)
In the beginning portion of this verse David is describing the enemy of his soul, then as if he was struck with an epiphany, he cries out abruptly SELAH, then completes his thought concerning God’s ability to deliver.
In most instances selah would provoke a pause for reflection, the fact that this is set to a musical tune lets us to know that this particular selah is an instruction for a musical interlude.
This would be a perfect point in time to insert a trumpet blast signifying God’s ability to deliver anyone from the hand of the enemy through faithful worship!
