Still Waters
Psalms 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalms 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Who better than David, could write about the shepherd and his sheep. I wonder how many times as a young shepherd he had to go beyond the perfectly good and clear water of a babbling brook to find a pool of still water before his flock would drink.
The sheep trusted the shepherd and knew that all their needs would be met as long as they followed him and allowed his rod to correct them.
In today’s vernacular the pulpit is the source of water for spiritual life, therefore there must not be any ripple in the water, else the congregation will not drink.
