40 Winks
Psalms 3:5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
Psalms 3:6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
This Psalm was written when King David fled from his son Absalom(According to the Apostolic Study Bible, Psalms 3-7 are a collection of David’s writings concerning rebellion within his family; commentary note 3:2, page 856)
Psalm 3:5,6 is a snapshot into the mental workings of this great king. He fought the lion, the bear, the giant, and the king (Saul, the son of Kish). How well he knew the hand of God and the power to deliver from any situation. When trouble came his way, David simply said, ”Here we go again Lord, you got this“; then he went to sleep. Oh, how sweet it is to trust in the Lord for a peaceful 40 winks.
